Latinas Represent Congratulates Laphonza Butler on Historic Appointment to the U.S. Senate

Los Angeles, California – Latinas Represent, a national, nonpartisan organization dedicated to increasing the number and diversity of Latinas in public office, extends its congratulations to Laphonza Butler on her historic appointment to fill the seat of the late Senator Dianne Feinstein in the United States Senate. Laphonza Butler’s appointment marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first openly LGBTQ person to represent California in the U.S. Senate.

Laphonza Butler has a distinguished track record of leadership and advocacy as she currently serves as the president of Emily’s List and previously served as the president of SEIU Local 2015, one of the largest labor unions in California. Her commitment to workers’ rights, social justice, and equity aligns closely with Latinas Represent’s mission to ensure Latinas and other marginalized communities have a seat at the decision-making table.
