Mónica G. Pérez is Principal and Owner of Ocotillo Group, a consulting firm which specializes in strategic communications, organizational training and facilitation, campaign management and community engagement with a focus on the Southwest.

Most recently, Mónica was a Principal in Public and Political Leadership at Wellstone Action, where she actively trained and worked to build a long term partnerships and a pool of diverse progressive leaders across the country to run for public office. She was previously the Electoral Campaign Manager for Democracy for America, and has over 15 years of experience with training and facilitation, communications, government affairs, Latino community organizing and voter engagement with both local and national organizations.

Mónica is a proud Arizona native and first-generation American, who grew up in a small border town, which helped shape her sense of community, need for voter participation and passion for Latino community engagement. In 2004, after working as an organizer for Governor Howard Dean’s presidential campaign, Mónica ran for an open seat in the Arizona legislature. She narrowly lost her bid by less than two percent of the vote.

Prior to consulting, Mónica worked for Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and Secretary Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign. Mónica has been recognized as one of Arizona’s “40 Hispanic Leaders Under 40” for her leadership and dedication to community service and recently completed the Rockwood Leadership Institute’s Art of Leadership program.

When not recruiting and training new candidates to run for public office or consulting and advocating for her clients, you can find Mónica admiring the abundance of cacti in her beloved Arizona, or baking desserts for a future second career.
